The Challenge

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Air-Conditioners Australia (MHIAA) are a leading, premium, air-conditioning brand, rated as a Choice Best Brand, and winner of Canstar Blue’s Most Satisfied Customer Award for air conditioners.

The company wanted to offer its customers rewards for purchasing its air-conditioners and increase sales in a competitive market.

Our Solution

While MHIAA has traversed a number of consumer rewards, including providing travel vouchers and running prize draws, cash backs have become a staple, proving a cost-effective sales strategy to drive stronger sales performance while also providing valuable customer and supply chain data.

For over five years Gratifii (formerly Hachiko) has handled MHIAA’s consumer promotion program, primarily offering cash backs, and the occasional prize draws.

Gratifii provides and hosts the claim form on our sophisticated loyalty platform and has a support team processing payments and managing all customer support, including telephone and email support and providing communications including eDMs – effectively taking away the heavy lifting that comes with running large scale national consumer cash back offers. To give you an indication, Gratifii (as Hachiko) handled 2,364 calls for the winter program between July and November 2021.

Over the years, the program has evolved, continuing to put the consumer first in regard to best practice online experiences for claim management. One marker of the improvements has been the increasing consumer satisfaction alongside the increasing number of claims received and approved.

And even through Covid lockdowns and global supply chain issues, the program has continued to run successfully and continued to grow season on season.

For MHIAA, the consumer program also provided another benefit, allowing MHIAA to continue to identify and grow a database of installers.

This valuable installer data has grown so much that three years ago, MHIAA launched a business-to-business incentive called PowerPlus. This installer program runs parallel to the consumer offering, providing significant cash backs and travel bonuses to its business partners for both supplying and installing the air conditioning units.

The consumer program, meanwhile, also provides MHIAA with valuable data including the changing face of its top retailers.
